Introduction

Dimensional Laboratory is dedicated for length measurement standards and related services. Our mandate is to establish National Length Standards of the country. Length is one of the seven base quantities of the International System of Units (SI) defined by the General Conference of Weight and Measures (CGPM). We are responsible for disseminating the definition of the metre and its practice as the National Authority beginning from the SI unit system to the public in Sri Lanka.
